Soil Moisture Profiling - Application Example

Provides irrigation consultants with a full set of tools to determine and optimise effective irrigation regimes for specific sites and crops.
  Measuring the soil moisture profile enables moisture monitoring or real-time control.

The GP1 permits the duty cycle of an irrigation period to be adjusted to match the absorption dynamics of the soil. This maximises water use efficiency – even for micro-irrigation. The GP1 is connected to SM200 or ML2x soil moisture probes. Placing one sensor in the root zone and one sensor below, it is possible to maintain crops at optimal hydration and monitor excess irrigation. Real-time irrigation control is based on multiple soil parameters. Several months of soil data can be recorded and graphically displayed, and used to optimise the irrigation regime.  

The PR2 Profile Probe can be used with a DL6 Logger or HH2 Meter to measure moisture profiles at multiple depths, down to 1m. It provides valuable data for irrigation scheduling and represents a viable alternative to neutron probes.
